Re: New 8.3 beta causing a problem with a cloned machine
The entire machine. I see no reason to clone a program.

Long name - rank hidden?
Should I have a rank, displayed like for Curecoin? Is my name too big? Unfortunately it has to be to earn Gridcoins, those things worth about a billionth of a dollar each

Re: New 8.3 beta causing a problem with a cloned machine
Uninstall (including ticking delete data - although it remembered my login?!) and reinstall seemed to work. Do you mean IP address? Those are obviously different or they couldn't operate on the same network. MAC address is hardware related so different.

Re: New 8.3 beta causing a problem with a cloned machine
Uninstall the client completely and reinstall. Also make certain the OS install is renamed differently, a clone may have inherited the same naming and settings. The client can not be cloned, that causes problems by having the same ID as the system it was cloned from. What do you mean by "make ...

Re: New 8.3 beta causing a problem with a cloned machine
I'll try that tomorrow, but I thought perhaps I could remove the setting and it would recreate it. In Boinc there's an ID it puts in a configuration file. If I delete it, it recreates one based on hardware serial numbers or something.

New 8.3 beta causing a problem with a cloned machine
The new beta is nice, I've logged all my machines into a newly created proper account, and they all can see each other. Except one. I have two very similar machines, and one lost it's hard disk n an untimely manner. I cloned it form the other one to save time quite a while ago. Not a problem until I...

Re: No bonus, but why?
Ah, you've alerted me to a mistake. I had one of the machines on an old passkey.

No bonus, but why?
I was checking to make sure my computers were all returning things on time (for your benefit, the points are secondary), and noticed one unit returned without a bonus. It's marked as "ok", and was returned in just over 7 hours after assignment. Are there units needing a faster turnaround t...

Re: Fast GPU, not enough CPU power to keep up?
Anyone with overheating GPUs, try MSI Afterburner, if it's not a very old GPU there will be an adjustable temperature limiter. It just slows the clock, doesn't have to interact with folding. Or check the fans are all spinning and there's no dust. Or if you're more adventurous, remove the heatsink an...

Re: Many GPUs on one machine
Solar connected to the grid is a ripoff, they pay you a fraction of the value when you give it to them than when you get it back.
If any cards come my way I'd be happy to provide the power for them.

Re: Many GPUs on one machine
I have noticed if I wanted a really fast card, AMD are severely lacking. I'm using AMD because their 2nd hand ones are cheap. If I had to pay for the electricity, I might buy different ones. But I'm using the output to heat the house anyway, so who cares?

Re: Many GPUs on one machine
12 old Tahiti GPUs, Radeon R9 280X, you can get them dirt cheap on Ebay. I don't want to buy overpriced newer ones. 10 computers of various types, two decent 24 core Ryzens, the rest are old stuff I made from parts. The GPUs are connected with USB mining risers. They break sometimes, I dismantle the...
