Re: config.xml utility ?

No worries then. v8 stores config changes in client.db in the client working directory.

Re: config.xml utility ?

And yes, there are v8 settings that can only be set via config.xml.

Or via command line arguments.

Re: config.xml utility ?

If you are upgrading from v7 some settings are imported on first run. The default config.xml is otherwise basically empty.

The rpm package you are talking about probably does not import/copy the v7 config.

Re: [tuto] 8.3.5, openSUSE Tumbleweed, installation

New betas get announced eventually in https://foldingforum.org/viewforum.php?f=115 Sometimes announced first on discord https://discord.com/invite/foldingathome I don't offhand know where you might get automated beta notices. Alphas are announced in the GitHub alpha discussion, which you can subscri...

Re: [tuto] 8.3.5, openSUSE Tumbleweed, installation

v8.3.9 has improved DNS handling, but seems to have regressions in logging.
Little testing has been done.
It's alpha because v8.3.7 was broken.

Re: [tuto] 8.3.5, openSUSE Tumbleweed, installation

While it is a stretch to call 8.3.5 stable, it is the current beta release. Alpha releases are by definition less stable, and change more frequently. BTW, some of your files are full of v7 cruft E.g., config.xml and fah-client.service Default v8 service is https://github.com/FoldingAtHome/fah-client...

Re: [tuto] 8.3.5, openSUSE Tumbleweed, installation

I have prodded Joseph about creating an rpm build server, but I know he is very busy and such is a lower priority.

Re: [tuto] 8.3.5, openSUSE Tumbleweed, installation

The main/master branches on github are development branches. There are tags for the released builds. Making a correct rpm package is non-trivial. I would encourage you to build it from source and examine its contents. If you think something is missing from the rpm package built from source, please c...

Re: [tuto] 8.3.5, openSUSE Tumbleweed, installation

Nobody should be packaging alpha builds, which are frequently broken. Bleeding edge builds even more so.

v8.3.8 is broken in multiple ways on all platforms.

Re: Error message - API Error - TypeError: Failed to fetch

There is a new alpha up, if you're willing to live dangerously.
If there are errors, please also try the debug package.

To help as an alpha tester, you are encouraged to optionally create a GitHub account and follow the discussion:

Re: Error message - API Error - TypeError: Failed to fetch

If you are using remote desktop software and looking at the first machine, you are indeed looking at a remote client's log.

So, you see this error in the log of clients that have lost their node connection?

What OS and version?

Re: Beta 8.3 Machines tab

The local machine is direct connected by web control. Machines are sorted alphabetically in 3 groups. First group is direct connections. Second is connected via node. Third is disconnected remote machines. There is a bug where machines can lose their node connection at zero hours UTC. This is probab...
