The main/master branches on github are development branches. There are tags for the released builds. Making a correct rpm package is non-trivial. Nobody should be packaging alpha builds, which are frequently broken. Bleeding edge builds even more so.

If you are using remote desktop software and looking at the first machine, you are indeed looking at a remote client's log.

The local machine is direct connected by web control. Machines are sorted alphabetically in 3 groups. First group is direct connections. Second is connected via node. If you are running on Linux, you can optionally purge v7 after installing v8.

Only a few settings will be picked up.
Mainly user, team, passkey, cause.
WUs will not transfer. Please set slots to finish and then manually pause before upgrading.

This might be the network not ready when client launches bug. https://github.com/FoldingAtHome/fah-client-bastet/issues/223 There have been DNS improvements in alpha v8.3.7. It works fine on Mac. My Macs disconnect for about 2.5 minutes at zero hours. But they always seem to reconnect on their own.

I would recommend you do not purge v8, unless you are quitting fah on that machine.
