Re: Langouste -- WU upload/download de-coupler [Linux only]

As a matter of fact I've started a Win32 port this morning (just to refresh my windows skillz); any alpha testers around? Yes! :D Testing is my middle name. :eugeek: I have one question (before I even started): can it be tested using regular WU, so I can test Langouste more frequently the...

Re: [Poll] 4 cores / 8 threads significance in -bigadv folding

I appreciate the suggestions and I would change, but what will happen to already submitted votes? How do I keep them connected to right choices?

Re: [Poll] 4 cores / 8 threads significance in -bigadv folding

... Poll doesn't work...I can only cast one vote for multiple bigadv machines. For example I have two 2p units... I know. :( I was thinking of a way to implement it better, but can't see one. Anyway, you can check farm and state your specs if you like. Two more ways: 2) Other users can vote for the...

Re: [Poll] 4 cores / 8 threads significance in -bigadv folding

And I think 2 and 4 socket systems contribution (from private donors) is small because of very high price. Judging from (a somewhat faulty) memory of things donors have said about their systems, FAH does have both private donors who spend a lot of money on their farms (whether that's exclusively fo...

Re: [Poll] 4 cores / 8 threads significance in -bigadv folding

So if PDC is not PG and they are indeed a donor, where are you going to put the 400 votes for PDC's systems? Are they running Intel or AMD and are they running 2P systems then.....? As I said... ... it would be good to know stats with and without them. They are making the contribution for sure, so ...

Re: 4 cores / 8 threads significance in -bigadv folding

I don't mind, it's a good idea! Can a thread (this one) be changed to poll, so we keep discussion and poll results together? As you started the Thread (you have the first post) you can always edit the first post and even the Thread name. Thanks! Looked a little better and found everything. 8-) If y...

Re: 4 cores / 8 threads significance in -bigadv folding

I was very busy at work and there has been many valuable comments/suggestions here... Don you now that starting a thread like this is going to bring in people with different opinions than yours. If you wanted the info from PG than you should have sent one them a PM for it, not asked the question in ...

Re: 4 cores / 8 threads significance in -bigadv folding

How about official record: These 645 million points were all recorded on muti-socket -bigadv machines. http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/ ... =&u=460688 For I7 to generate 80% of the work done, they would have had to generate what? 3.2 billion additional points. :?:   Still, I w...

Re: 4 cores / 8 threads significance in -bigadv folding

Bruce had posted in another thread that the client can't distinguish between 8 real cores or 4 real cores + 4 virtual ones, it only sees 8 cores either way. Now if there is actual data that show otherwise I too would be interested in it. I know, but with some filtering of statistical data, it can b...

[Poll] 4 cores / 8 threads significance in -bigadv folding

I was interested in significance of single socket machines for -bigadv folding and it's share in % ? If someone from PG or admin/mod can disclose those numbers, if can be taken out from statistics, or give a rough estimate, it would be nice. To be honest, I wanted a proof, for some disbelievers, tha...

This is really lame and annoying, any help is appreciated thanks
AFAIK, only window position is not saved. Column choice, column width and everything else is saved.

Re: Langouste -- WU upload/download de-coupler [Linux only]

Thanks for quick reply.
I did dl langouste, extracted it, but I don't have development tools, as I should be having according to instructions:
Make sure gcc, make and appropriate development packages are installed
Where do I get them?
Thanks.
BTW, why langouste doesn't come precompiled?
