Re: Building a dedicated rig with 3 GPUs

From the specs, that 200mm front fan only does 110cfm at peak. Is the fan running full out? That said, I am running with 2 140mm fans that each do 107cfm on the front. But they are running at about 83% atm. I have no idea how to control the power on the GPU's w/ Linux. sorry. I have all the case fa...

Re: Help trying to keep temps down

I just ordered one of these:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FH ... UTF8&psc=1

We'll see if it helps cool my two RTX 2060 cards. If so, and if it's not too noisy, I'll buy more.

Re: Building a dedicated rig with 3 GPUs

nvidia-smi is what you are locking for. Hack it into the terminal nvidia-smi -L lists the GPUs nvidia-smi -i 0 -pl 130 this puts your first GPU on 130W, this is almost half of the power and heat, but you will get still a decent PPD which is much more than the expected half. nvidia-smi -h gives you ...

Re: Building a dedicated rig with 3 GPUs

How do I power-limit Nvidia GPUs on Ubuntu Linux? The "NVIDIA X Server Settings" app shows that both my 2060s are being limited a bit automagically (graphics clocks about 300 MHz lower than maximum, memory transfer rate about 400 MHz lower). They're running hot, one usually near 70C and th...

Re: Budget folding build

My experience with two RTX 2060 cards (vanilla at US$350, KO [TU 104] at US$300) on a motherboard is that even with Ubuntu Linux, a GPU of that class needs at least PCIe 2.0 at x4 -- preferably better -- or it can be throttled down to 75% utilization or so. Right now I have the full-width PCIe 3.0 s...

Re: Building a dedicated rig with 3 GPUs

On reflection I think it’s an especially bad time to upgrade. Lots of parts are in short supply, and new hardware is due in September. Both 2060s are running a bit hot (usually near 80C for the one higher in the case in the better PCIe slot), and if I could get something like a hybrid-cooled 2080 Su...

Building a dedicated rig with 3 GPUs

This is largely just idle speculation, as hardware isn't in good supply right now (and for many people, cash), but suppose one wanted to build a dedicated machine with three fairly high-end GPUs and get the most out of them. What CPU and motherboard would suffice? Right now I have an Ubuntu Linux bo...

Re: Two similar GPUs; why is one utilized less?

This is an AM4 board with a Ryzen 5 1600 AF 6-core. I need to look at the BIOS too, yes. I set x8 for both slots on the BIOS. Got x8 for the primary slot. Still x1 on the other. I'll see if it helps to remove that WiFi card and do WiFi on a USB dongle. No hurry. Next time I buy a processor and moth...

Re: FAH Overall Rank

I did some folding a long time ago (maybe 15 years?) with various machines, probably most single-core processors, sometimes three or four minimal Linux boxes running at a time. I can't recall. I started again in maybe April 2020, or was it late March? First did a little work on my Windows 10 box, th...

Re: Lower PPD with several projects

I have an RTX 2060 and an RTX 2060 KO on the same motherboard and depending on projects I can get PPD displayed as anything from 1.4 million to nearly 2.2 million. Lots of sensitivity to those projects...

Re: PPD Database - HFM exports needed

I'd think that both GPU-Z and TechPowerUp would differentiate based on their database. The real key is the device code What does GPU-Z say about both versions ... the TU106 2060s and TU104 versions. Specifically, the reported device codes. That's a good point. GPU-Z gives the device ID 10DE 1E89 fo...
