I am not looking a Task Manager. Task Manager does not show the true GPU usage.
Now that I have had it for a few days, I am coming to the conclusion that it may just be related to the individual WU.. but it is still very odd behavior.

4070ti low power usage...
Curious, just installed a 4070ti and I use MSI Afterburner to monitor the power usage as well as using MSI to power limit it too. I have no power limit active, but the card is only using ~70% (200 watts) of the power rating for the card (285 watts). I have no PPD data to compare this card too and ha...

GPU is pretty accurate. CPU has some flaws....BobWilliams757 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 6:59 am
ETA - we know how many points our hardware can pull, and that the LAR site has flaws. It seems to work ok for GPU figures, but obviously something is wrong on the GPU stuff.

Re: CPU PPD Ranks
Depends upon how you sort it. You can sort it a multitude of ways on that page. You should go over to the Linus Tech Tip Forums and ask Lars there, he is on there pretty regularly. But part of the answer is on the individual CPU Page: "The following data for the Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8365U CPU @...

Re: New Folding Hardware
Nice to meet you Sandy, Regardless of the risers, look into the power draw of so many cards. It's great that you have 230vac in your shack (wish I did and soon will!), but its the overall power bill that is making me liquidate most of my 3000 series cards for fewer 4000 series. I have solar, and I a...

Re: New Folding Hardware
Pretty sure those pcie riser cables are going to limit the 3070 ppd (by a lot). You will need at lest 3.0 x 8 pcie slots for those. I run an X99 MoBo with an intel 5960X w/ 40 pcie lanes to accomadate all of the cards (up to 5). (I'm actually not really running it at the moment but I was for a while...

Re: Mining rigs put to good use Good then bad
Very odd indeed. When your label said mining rigs, the riser cables were the forst thing that i thought of. But I assumed...so... :) Check your folding number here: https://apps.foldingathome.org/bonus looks like maybe you are getting failed WU's possibly so you aren't getting a bonus? I use the Lar...

What MOBO, cpu and riser cables are you using?

Sounds like at this time it’s a non issue if the power plug is fully seated. I’m running (2) 4080’s for a few days now on 70 %.

Re: 4090 Power Plug and F@H
Good Vid, I watched that yesterday. Seems like it may be mainly operator error.... With my 4080's I'll be sure that plug is in and secure.

Re: 4090 Power Plug and F@H
No AMD for me, sticking with Green for the Cuda.
Heard about the 2 different connectors and one of them having issues… just which one is it?
Not excited about the initial cost of the 4080, but it seems to be very power efficient which for long term folding, counts for a lot.

I don’t see AMD being able to fold as well as the Nvidias.

Thanks for the comments. Someday I may get a 4090 and fold with it… more likely something with a bit less power draw.. maybe a 4080?

Re: Is there a way to limit how intensely a GPU is utilized?
Plus one for Afterburner. I use it to power limit the GPU’s and lower the heating. But the folding loss is pretty minimal down to a 75% range.

4090 Power Plug and F@H
I probably would have have either gotten or at least trying to get a 4090 if there wasn't the whole melting power plug issue going on.
Anyone here have a 4090 and folding on it 24/7? If so, what brand and power setting are you using?
Thanks in advance!
