Re: Ryzen 7840HS - another data point
Here is snapshot of Conky while folding on the SER7 Top portion under RYZEN 7840 shows the watts and CPU cycles Bottom under PROCS shows the FahCore This unit has an obscure NSC/ITE chip that sensors-detect does not recognize and that there is no corresponding kernel module, so I take the power read...

Ryzen 7840HS - another data point
Greetings! My lab needed yet another gizmo and just acquired a Beelink SER7 mini pc. AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics (16) @ 5.293GHz F@H v7.6.21 on Arch Linux produces on the order of 500,000 +/- PPD consuming 2-3 watts Ryzen 9 7940HS version is on the market, but about 25% price premium ...

Yes, all folding taking place on one chassis. ASRock B650E Taichi Lite motherboard and Ryzen 7900 (no X). Manjaro Linux The two cards are installed on PCI slots 1 and 2. Specification is: CPU: 1 x PCIe 5.0 x16 Slot (PCIE1), supports x16 mode Chipset: 1 x PCIe 4.0 x16 Slot (PCIE2), supports x4 mode I...

Re: Fast GPU, not enough CPU power to keep up?
ASRock B650E Taichi motherboard with one CPU PCIe 5.0 x16 slot and one chipset PCIe 4.0 x16. First is occupied with 4070 Super and second with RTX A2000 I do not have numbers directly at hand but recall when folding with the Ryzen 7900 I also saw a penalty on the first slot card. I tried with limit ...

Re: Fast GPU, not enough CPU power to keep up?
I'm curious how this will work as I've consistently found that doing any amount of CPU Folding drags down the processing speed of the GPU job. Its particularly aggressive on my 5950X where I will lose more PPD off the GPU job than I gain from the CPU job, and it doesn't appear to be boost clock rel...

RTX 4070 Super + RTX 4060ti + AMD 7900 "Raphael" integrated GPU = 10,000,000 +/- PPD RTX 4074 Super + RTX 4060ti = 16,000,000 +/- PPD ASRock B650e Taichi Lite running Manjaro Linux. Windows11 produces significantly less (~20%) on identical dual-boot hardware. I chose the 4060ti over anothe...

Re: Linux BTRFS - Possible to change FAH directories?
Thanks for your quick responses. There is a great deal I do not understand about BTRFS clearly; I formatted /root with it so I could take extremely efficient system snapshots with Timeshift, which requires writes to /root. As I understand it, this is not a traditional fragmentation, but rather artif...

Linux BTRFS - Possible to change FAH directories?
Greetings I installed Manjaro Linux on a purpose built folding machine. Perhaps foolishly, I formatted /root with BTRFS "One disadvantage of Btrfs is that it can cause high level of data fragmentation due to the use of “copy-on-write” technology. This is most often observed when overwriting a l...

HowTo Question: Convert from 7.6 machine to Beta 8.3
I am a long time folder with two purpose built machines. Figure I can use one as a test bed. Since the folding core "backend" is 7.6, is there a way to installing just the beta front end? Or should it be a complete uninstall and re-install? I run Manjaro Linux. The 7.6 Foldingathome is ava...

Silly, I know, but ...
This week I broke the ten billion point mark after quite some years Folding, lately with two purpose-built machines at home. When I attempt to download a F@H Certificate to celebrate, I enter my User Number (not ID) BUT ... It returns to me a certificate perfectly printed WITH SOMEONE ELSE'S NAME. :...

I will boot to Win11 then and let it run a few days straight to see if I haven't let the machine "warm up" and reach full PPD.
