Unable to finish

If the WU does not meet deadline, does it send back partially completed WU?

I really hope so. Because getting back a partially completed WU is far better than it going to waste entirely.

In essence, I suspect what you're advocating is the dropping of SMP for a multi-uniprocessor client?
that is correct.

Universal Client

wouldn't it be easier to maintain only uniprocessor core, and to avoid installing a seperate client per gpu/cpu/core, do: (please distinguish "client" from "core") 1. client starts up. (i.e. Folding@Home-Win32-x86.exe) 2. client takes number of processor/core with -smp flag (mayb...

Passkeys

I was considering to set up a passkey for the point bonuses, but I came to a problem. My PS3 does not appear to have the option to set a pass key. If I set a passkey for my SMP client only, will my other uniprocessor clients and PS3 still be accepted and credited without using the passkey?

Re: OpenMM

I am asking about the difference between a uniprocessor and smp library that OpenMM applies to. I'm wondering if OpenMM was designed to apply to both uniprocess/smp clients, or if any MD algorithms built for OpenMM are always going to be uniprocessor for now. not that I care if it supports SMP. ther...

Does OpenMM entirely resolve the issue of having multi-threaded cores?

unfortunately, it would be impossible for me to nominate. the best shot is to spread the word until someone who is qualified to.

OEM machines

Has anyone made an effort to see about convincing OEMs to distribute shipped PC with a link to folding@home on desktop? I think ATI does this when you install their driver, and seems like a pretty good idea for promoting F@H

F@H and Facebook?

I was just thinking about how viral things can be when on facebook, like these Mafia Wars and FarmVille games that spam people's Walls with acheivement awards and such. Also of note is all the organizations big and small who are using Facebook/Twitter as an official avenue to get news updates out to...

Re: Multiple Failures

Ah, found the problem. The GPU was not fully seated in its pci-e slot. I expected problems like that to be detected at boot time with some kind of alarm or obvious sign that something is wrong instead of these subtle, unpredictable and unreproducable errors that I was encountering.

Re: Multiple Failures

I'm ruling CPU overheating out. my other 7 cpu cores are running normally without error. also, this system automatically shuts down and alarms when overheating so i'm fairly confident that its not the cpu, and they are not over clocked or in the red zone temperature wise. as for the gpu on the other...

Multiple Failures

Lately, I've been getting quite a bit of MACHINE_UNSTABLE results. Infact, one time a work unit ("Project: 5736 (Run 1, Clone 43, Gen 485)" barfed at 12%, but consequently when the client restarted, the WU completed successfully! I don't know what is going on here, as I'm getting a mixed b...

Re: Answers to: Reasons for not using F@H.

I'd like to see if I can appeal to some devout Christians and appeal to their sense of moral duty so they can evangelize f@h to fellow church attendees. As long as they aren't the type of Christians who despise medical science for what they perceive as playing God. Or the other type of christian, th...

Re: Answers to: Reasons for not using F@H.

it would be a lot easier to combine all the smp/up/gpu clients because some machines are dual core, others aren't. future purchases maybe more cores and compatible GPU. hopefully the win smp client will do away with those awful things MPICH and Deino MPI too.
