Re: Something a little unusual?

Another a8 work unit (16943). Only using about 3/4 of available CPU! :e?:

Re: Something a little unusual?

Quick update:

I just received an a7 work unit (project 16460). It is definitely using all the CPU allocated to it.

Re: Something a little unusual?

I don't really have any log files to show you. I am just using HWINFO64 (https://www.hwinfo.com/download/) to monitor the CPU load (and GPU load). Recently, the a8 core work units have been using less CPU. I suspect this is project related, because I seem to remember looking at a8 work units a while...

Something a little unusual?

All, I have been getting more of the a8 jobs recently. However, some of these jobs do not use the full amount of CPU allocated to it. They use the proper number of threads, but each thread is not at 100% utilization. Current, I am running project 16814 and it is using approximately 90% of allocated ...

Re: Certificate generator needs to be fixed

Yes, it is just a restatement. The computer scientist in me had problems with "remove the last bit" (one character = one byte = 8 bits) How could I remove part of one character? Sometimes I take things too literally. :ewink:

Re: Certificate generator needs to be fixed

Another update:

The work units link provides the proper (rounded) certificate for number of work units. You don't need to change anything. You need to remove the &type=score to get a proper (rounded) points certificate from the points link.

Re: Certificate generator needs to be fixed

Ok, it works (although it rounds to a nice number) :D

To be more precise, the URL will end with something like "&type=score".

Remove the &type= and everything after it.

Certificate generator needs to be fixed

Bring up the web client. On the upper right you can select see stats. This gives you your folding at home stats. You can select total score or total WUs to get a certificate. I get 2,000 work units no matter what I select (either link). My name is correct, as it the date, but the values are incorrec...

Re: another question about threads

I already use HWMonitor (for the same reason). However, I have found the details tab of task manager to be pretty accurate.

Re: another question about threads

Ok, I finally understand that there is a difference between the number of threads you give to the client and the number of threads the client actually uses. The a7 core has a number of restrictions (prime number above 3, the value 10, there may be more). Apparently a8 has different set of restrictio...

Re: another question about threads

Interesting. The log file did show 16 threads on the a7 core and 17 threads on the a8. I never noticed this in the log file before. This answers my question. Thanks.

Re: another question about threads

Well, the a8 core is using 85% (what I expected). So this is either an a7 feature, or (as foldy suggested) something associated with the specific work unit.

another question about threads

I apologize if this is answered elsewhere, but I see something that I cannot understand. I am using windows 10 with a 20 thread machine. This should mean 5% CPU for each thread. I gave my CPU slot 17 threads. The windows task manager (details tab) shows 17 threads allocated to the a7 process. Howeve...

I have noticed the same thing on both my AMD and Nvidia cards. The GPU load is significantly lower.

Do you want to partition threads on a CPU?

This is probably answered elsewhere, but I can't find it. If you see it, please point me to the post. I have a CPU with 18 threads free. Which of the following configurations would be best for PPD (and explain your logic of your answer). 18 threads, 1 process 9 threads, 2 process 6 threads, 3 proces...
