Re: Noise on USB audio when folding

On some work units, after the release of the new CUDA-enabled core, I'm experiencing a lot of coil whine on my Asus GTX 1080 ROG Strix. The Moonshot sprint WUs produced some slight crackling in my headphones (PCI-e soundcard, Asus Strix Soar) but the card was quiet from outside the case. With a diff...

Re: Why seams the folding of the protein be so slow nowadays

I'm sure he's not talking about folding, but about rendering. Simplex0, the viewer does not show folding in real-time, it renders the checkpoints (viewer frames) and interpolates between them to make it look smoother. The proteins have gotten larger but the viewer is still as efficient/inefficient a...

Re: Hardware PPD list

Hi all, I'm fairly new to folding but was somewhat surprised by my PPD with a UVOC Vega56 Pulse. PPD depends on the project but I have been averaging between 1.1-1.35M PPD with about 180W peak consumption. Is this typical or did I win the silicon lottery? The silicon lottery has nothing to do with ...

Simple tip, ditch OneDrive altogether. I have never been as annoyed with anything Microsoft as I was when setting up a fresh computer a relative bought and everything was synced to OneDrive...

Re: The worst software I have ever seen.

The kind of people who need to be told that scientific software will heavily load their computer are also the kinds of people who ask questions instead of reading FAQ or who attack the project because their pride and joy overheats but plays all their games perfectly . Very Much True. Running FaH ag...

Vast.ai slim tutorial

These quick steps should get you started with folding on the Vast.ai platform. 1. Create an account on Vast.ai and add some funds. There should be a $1 free bonus when you add a credit card for the first time, even without adding any funds. 2. Setting up SSH - Download PuTTY from here: https://www....

Re: Own hardware vs. cloud computing

It's that simple. I used the nvidia/opencl:devel-ubuntu18.04 image for the instances.

Re: Own hardware vs. cloud computing

I don't know the technology behind it, but you rent an instance and SSH into it. Then install F@H like you would on Linux. An interruptible instance is up for bid for other people while you're renting it. That means you can get outbid and your instance will be paused until the higher bidder has fini...

iceman1992 wrote: How on earth is that possible? It's 75.7 TFLOPS of GPU compute, I can get over 10 million FAH points just paying ~$20.
You can make a lot more than 10M points with $20 if you go for the interruptible instances. I made 2M points with just $0.97 out of the free $1 trial. :D

Remove all CPU slots except <slot id='0' type='CPU'> Then add <cpus v='6'/> Your config should look like this: <config> <!-- Client Control --> <fold-anon v='true'/> <!-- Slot Control --> <power v='full'/> <!-- User Information --> <team v='251999'/> <user v='vdvogt'/> <!-- Folding Slots --> <slot i...

You will earn less points in total if you split it.

Re: since i changed the config the webclient does not conect

From where did you get your info? Here, for example: https://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/11/06/amd_sued_cores/ . "In fact, the Bulldozer chips functionally have only four cores — not eight, as advertised." You should only have one CPU slot and instead configure that slot to use the preferr...

Re: Low level CPU job is too high !

Hi ! Thanks for replying. I already tested thoses values, but in this case, the CPU frequency increase so much and the average load remains around 50%... I don't want to burn my computer with folding process… I do not find any solution to decrease the load on my CPU... I think this issue is similar...

Re: Radeon RX570 not able to get WU

It's been several days now that the GPU has not received a WU so I'm sure there is something else up. Pause the GPU slot and resume it. That will at least reset the retry timer. Right now it's retrying every 6 hours. Also, take a look at this thread: https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=74&...
