Re: HFM.NET - Monitoring Application for Folding@Home v7

Would it be possible to have the work unit history table sorted automatically so that the most recent WUs are always first in the list?

Re: COVID Moonshot on CPUs?

Nice figures there. I'm getting around 330k for 14802 on my system, the beta core gives around 450k for 16810.

Re: COVID Moonshot on CPUs?

Thanks. I am perfectly happy folding on CPUs quite apart from Moonshot. I ask just because "small molecules" usually implies CPU to me, so I was not sure how they were dividing that up. But I have two Ryzen 3950Xs on FAH, and they can do other COVID or anything else. The cancer, etc. is f...

Re: Over 2 exaflops!

The "good" thing is that the various science teams seem to have plenty of projects already in FAH. The number of new beta projects has been very low lately, so they should already have lots of data to analyze from our returned results.

Re: Help explaining to a 12yo

Also he asked if a vaccine is just dead flu cells aren't there enough dead SARS-CoV-2 cells out now that we could inject them in to some people? Vaccine is either inactivated viruses, bacteria etc. or simply weakened versions of them which won't be able to cause the disease in question. Something t...

Re: Help explaining to a 12yo

The lack of GPU work units is probably in big part due to those huge datacenters which donated idle GPU resources to the project. Kind of a blessing and a curse at the same time :)

Re: Detected instruction sets incorrect?

http://manual.gromacs.org/documentation ... hlight=zen Looks like the core is not using a recent enough source to cover Zen 2. There's a quite nice speed boost right there if you do.. EDIT: or hopefully it's the other way around -- that is just a warning and 256-bit instructions are used nevertheless.

Detected instruction sets incorrect?

I happened to take a look at the files written by FAH and noticed this strange message in md.log Detecting CPU SIMD instructions. Present hardware specification: Vendor: AuthenticAMD Brand: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core Processor Family: 23 Model: 113 Stepping: 0 Features: aes apic avx clfsh cmov cx8 cx...

Re: How is our base of folders coming along?

Beta CPU projects have been pushed to FAH as fast as possible, so work is not stopping. GPUs seem to have issues getting work lately, maybe there's much less active projects.

Re: Info on the duration of Covid-19 projects

Although we hope we can find a cure for the illnesses and viruses mentioned in front page, more realistic expectation should be, that we uncover a lot of information which paves way for further studies. Exactly. I think with science you have to understand the fact that a big part of any discovery i...

Re: Ryzen 9 3900X @ 97C

As I wrote in another thread, one option to try OC'ing a 3900X is to go to BIOS, disable PBO and any automatic overclocking. Set multiplier to 40x and core voltage to 1.2V. Stress test. In case of problems, lower the multiplier by 0.5X A large percentage of 3900X will work well with such settings, t...

Actually you could tell a potential customer that you have stress tested the hardware with FAH :)

Re: Ryzen 3900X undervolting and limiting clock speed

My 3900X was boosted by PBO to about 4.05GHz. Temps over 80C and voltage mostly around 1.35-1.4V. As my computer most often uses all the cores, I would not get any benefit from those occasional higher boost speeds for single cores, so I set up the multiplier at fixed 40X and core voltage at 1.2V. St...

And to emphasise; the passkey is not a password or a security key in the normal sense. It's more like a calculated hash value which is used to identify you from all the other folders.

Re: Any recommendations for inexpensive secondhand GPUs?

The card can probably be overclocked for a nice little boost. My 1050 Ti makes about 220 000 PPD slightly overclocked.
