Re: Volunteering to help communicate

Yep thanks I understand there is public information around and I have reviewed it but much of it requires specialist knowledge to understand. I would like to help communicate this as the layperson social media level - and maybe have a bit of fun at the same time. Which I think the world will really ...

Volunteering to help communicate

Hi, I am super passionate about FaH during this pandemic and I have a unique sense of humour and twist on things. I'd be more than happy to help communicate what we're doing here so the public can understand what the most powerful computer in human history is doing. Is there a or some researchers I ...

Re: Please don't let this go to waste

If we can get an approximate user count / growth and approx computational capacity that would be amazing and would help with layman understanding and good news stories that the world is desperate for right now.

Re: Do you need help?

BTW what is the current user estimate and rough estimate of computational capacity of this thing now, in TFlops? It must be up there with big supercomputers by now...

Re: Please don't let this go to waste

I have contacts in Amazon and Microsoft and some local data centres, I'll reach out. I may get no if they have their own crises but who knows. Can we get an estimated compute capacity of FaH in TFlops now please. I will also reach out to a few journalists keen for a good news story. Just please tell...

Re: Please don't let this go to waste

Why the reluctance to reach out for corporate sponsorship? Big cloud providers are always looking for ways to strut their stuff so this seems like a win for everyone? If no one has approached them I will. This is exactly what cloud is all about. I appreciated being volunteer run but "no man is ...

Re: Do you need help?

Get corporate sponsorship they are all desperate to show off their stuff so let them brand the rescue all they like. We saved FaH blah blah blah. Has anyone approached Amazon etc?

Re: COVID-19 - new WUs available?

Can we get some announcement on the public Web page about all this. If anything it makes for a good news story. Have the servers crashed or something? Or have all work units been exhausted?

Re: Wuhan Corona Virus

That is an unprecedented growth. The userbase always grows in the wintertime, and it's still cold outside in much of the US and Europe ... If you're going to use electricity to heat your home when it's cold, then you might as well (try to) run FAH and do something useful with it in the process. If ...

Re: Coronavirus Disease -COVID-19

Is it a good idea to just have say 4 CPU threads then. I don't want the CPU running full throttle all the time.

I would argue it should have some priority as it attracts donors.
