Why is this topic about 344.11 when 344.16 was released five days later?
Does anybody know if 344.11 is the cause of all the problems?

Re: Any idea how many Core 16's are left?
I would actually like to see a response from PandeGroup on this because I don't think the request is unreasonable. Is it more reasonable for every donor to take responsibility for knowing which projects cannot be run on their system and managing them 24 hrs per day or is it more reasonable for the ...

Re: Ubuntu 14.04 amd R9 gpu folding
Ok, with that Bruce and your guess might be right and there is something else installed. Is there a folder in /opt or /etc indicating OpenCL packages/config ? Maybe this is somehow related to the problems reported elsewhere with lots of failed WUs on Windows. The client or core should be smart enou...

Re: PS4 / XB1?
I think you may have missed Bruce's point. The designer who figures out how big a heatsink is needed and what kind of fans are needed should design for an expected worst-case environment. A computer running under a pile of laundry cannot be expected to cool itself. Living in the Sahara Desert withou...

Re: New to folding! Hello!
I'm not impressed with Win8, from the little I've used it. I still have a copy in my drawer, uninstalled. IF I had a tablet or other touch screen, I'd use it. Otherwise, Win7 (or Linux) is perfectly adequate for Folding. I don't think any of the "old timers" are impressed with Windows 8. ...

To do that, you have to right-click the slot, itself. That may not be obvious.Napoleon wrote:PS: FahControl allows you to pause individual folding slots.

Re: Video Playback with F@H 7.4.x Series
I think the answer is: in comparison to innovation in GPU gaming. Look at the list of changes in any recent generation of drivers and count the percentage of fixes associated with games vs. those associated with GPGPU. It probably closely matches the numbers of GPUs sold that play games vs, the numb...

Some science fiction shows have assumed that a bluetooth-like chip will be imbedded in the brain. It sounds like a more realistic picture of the future than direct mind-to-mind telepathy.

Google is testing out body sensors like the Fitbit and Google_Glass which can hold enough battery to store useful information and talk bluetooth. In 30 years, an entire PC will be imbedded in things like that.

Re: Change in BA requirements
Long sermon, but I actually came up with an idea. How about demoting some of the existing BA projects to SMP on April 17th, giving them high priority on the AS and requiring 16 or more cores to fold them? They would no longer receive the BA-specific 20% bonus , but other than that, business as usua...

Re: Change in BA requirements
I'd suggest that the reason a new points system hasn't been implemented is because it suffers the critical flaw in that it will be a change, and leave some folders worse off as a result. :!: I'm absolutely in favor of a new points system as long as I'm not one of the people who ends up being worse ...

The website for viewer.exe says "Folding@Home client's port. 61469 by default" which is (IIRC) is the port the V6 client used to connect to it's viewer. I don't believe V7 is supported by viewer.exe though I'd be happy to hear from the OP that I'm wrong. If I''m correct, it's unfortunate t...

Stanford is not likely to disable IPv6 for the entire campus just because of a minor problem with one server. They're more likely to find and fix the underlying problem.

Re: Sleep Mode
Unfortunately I can't think of a way to know if it was processing slowly or if during three and a half hours, the CPU was sleeping for two and a half or something like that. The TPF is estimated from previous frames and that average could easily be distorted by adding in some time of doing nothing.

It might be helpful if you told us which WUs are being assigned. There was a problem with the Assignment Server that was fixed quite recently but it might have caused your problem earlier.
