Re: Which GPU is better?
Depends what your goals are, If you fold occasionally, I think you'll get best bang for the buck with AMD. If you fold continuously, go with Nvidia. But as for the choice of card, I would opt for a 2080 over a 2070. Or, get a 2060. The 2060's performance is close (within 5-10% the same) as the 2070;...

Fah largest supercomputer again?
Wikipedia states that in 2006-2011 the fah network was the fastest network in the world, topping even the fastest supercomputers. Every year the record of supercomputers is doubled (we're about to hit the ceiling on that). Also, according to Wikipedia, in 2018, the FAH network reached 138 pFlops, whi...

Relation TFlops and PPD
It just so happens to be, that my server running at ~35Tflops had an average PPD count of 3,5M PPD. Just as I was upgrading it with a new 2080, to ~45Tflops, did I notice the similarities between TFlops and PPD. At least, in my case, 10Tflops roughly equals 1M PPD. Not sure if that is the same on ot...

Well, if you browser around a bit, you'll find PPD ratings in the likes of a GTX1070 ti..

Re: FP16, VS INT8 VS INT4?
Perhaps, but from what I read online, people running FAH on those cards, have reported very low PPDs.

Re: GTX 1660Ti Compute Performance
Sounds like the process has a continuous while loop that doesn't wait, pend, block, or yield so it's allowed to hit 100% on the core. From others investigating this in the past, that is how nVidia has implemented its OpenCL support in the driver. It can b e interrupted by a higher priority process,...

Re: FP16, VS INT8 VS INT4?
I believe NVidia Quadro had a Volta chipset, But it was reported to be quite slow compared to the much cheaper RTX2060,
Am I wrong about this?
The Tesla V performance was about on par with 2xRTX 2060s.

Re: MacOS GPU
Given that MacOS now has OpenCL and CUDA support built-in, and given that there are many MacBook Pro laptops with discreet GPU hardware capable of out-performing the CPUs in those laptops, I'd like to propose that we re-open this discussion? If it is Intel IGPs, you're in the same boat as windows P...

Re: Video: diminished return on parallel processing....
Interesting! I can already see certain WUs using only 145Watts of the 180 available watts of my RTX2060, and it's not even a top of the line graphics card. Bruce, you mentioned somewhere on the forum, that in the future larger (molecule) chains will be implemented(for faster cards). Are you now sayi...

Re: GTX 1660Ti Compute Performance
Using your PC while folding does affect PPDs in a negative way.
This is why most people post their PPD ratings, when the system is idle; it's their 'highest' PPD they post; not averages from power outages or system maintenance, or while using the PC.

Re: projects and publications -> make the link
If a project is successful or completed, I suspect they would just remove it from the folding library.

Re: Measuring Folding Efficiency
To limit a graphics card to the minimum power settings, gets you highest efficiency. In a high performance system, like a mining rig, it is an excellent way to add more graphics cards to your setup(if you can); while still staying within the power limitations of the fuse (12A, 1500W); Or to lower yo...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ and Folding@Home
It would be interesting to see if it would work or not. Not sure if FAH still supports the older Sony client, or if there still are WUs available for that core. Even if, aside from trying to see if it would work, I wouldn't recommend trying to achieve any kind of folding record on a Raspberry pi, si...
