Re: v8.1.18 - frequent re-installs required (Ubuntu 22.04)
I don't have any experience with v8 client but I had the same issue with V7 for quite some time, so I offer this in the hopes it might help you. It seems that the config file got stomped on and the default one used on startup. I think this was related to the fact that FAH would auto start and someti...

Re: Slot settings reset after reopening F@H
I too have experienced (repeatedly) the situation on a reboot where the config.xml file gets replaced. VERY frustrating. I definitely call this a BUG and it seems to be rather random- does not happen every time. My work around is: - copy my working config.xml to config.backup.xml - set folding to fi...

Re: Too big units, comparing to just finished ones
Hopefully I an not off base with this ..... There is a setting that can be added to the client under the Expert tab: Name: max-packet-size Value: small (or normal or big) Although this option appears to be more about the size of the file downloaded, If you set this to small it might also mean the wo...

Re: GPU shows "failed"
I have had this issue multiple times and it always seems to be related to new Linux headers being updated and sometimes new Nvidia drivers. Something gets out of sync! The easiest way I have found is to power down and restart until the client finds the GPU again. Sometimes it has taken two restart b...

Re: Strange crash and CMOS corruption after switching to 308
Hi Marius
There is an updated client at 7.6.21 I suggest you try.
From your FAH log file, can you list the very start of the work unit until the completion of 1% of the work unit so we can see what is happenign when starting FaH
Cheers
Pete

Re: Strange warning: No openc-device specified; using deprec
CUDA is a Nvidia specific platform they update regularly and is optimized for each new generation of Nvidia GPUs. OpenCL is a vendor independent platform that Nvidia made a driver for in 2012 and so uses the features of the graphics cards of that era. When F@H code uses CUDA on Nvidia, it gets a 40...

Re: Strange warning: No openc-device specified; using deprec
The message is a generic indication that something went wrong with Folding@home's attempt to interrogate the state of OpenCL on your system. If it proceeds to fold, using CUDA or any other means, then there is no issue and you can ignore the message. The client version is only logged when the clien...

Strange warning: No openc-device specified; using deprecate
I have this strange warning message come up saying (in then end) please consider upgrading your client version. Then it seems to find CUDA and off it goes. For some totally unfathomable reason, the log file fails to mention the client version is 7.6.21 which is (I believe) the latest Here is a snipp...

Re: CPU or GPU new install. Says disabled
Hi Bruce
Thanks for your reply
The GPUs.txt file is way too complicated to edit - I would never even try. I just delete it and restart the client and let it download a new one again.
Strange though, how that fixes it. But thankful for small mercies.

Re: CPU or GPU new install. Says disabled
Hi I had the same problem after a software update. Had been working fine for ages and then suddenly the GPU was disabled I did some serious hunting around the forums but in the end the piece of advice that worked was: 1) stop FAHClient running by "service FAHClient stop) or killing the process ...

Re: Download/Send progress bar no longer does incremental up
OK, thanks for that. Didn't see this one in the issues list.
Strange that it used to work at some stage in the past.
Anyway, it is minor in the scheme of things and the grand mess that we have on our hands at the moment.
Cheers

Download/Send progress bar no longer does incremental update
Hi everyone It has been quite some time since the progress bar for Downloads and uploads in FAH Control application has shown the incremental progress of files going up or down (yes, it did work once upon a time). Not sure if it now longer working is deliberate as I can not find any reference to the...
