Re: Send Errors - 155.247.164.213 & .214

Checked the Server Stats and both these are showing as down.

Which explains things.

Hopefully the crew aren’t suffering from this surfeit of Lampreys

Send Errors - 155.247.164.213 & .214

I'm getting WUs OK and processing them but when completed they're failing to send to the Work Server and Collection Server 03:46:20:WU01:FS00:0x22:Completed 1000000 out of 1000000 steps (100%) 03:46:26:WU01:FS00:0x22:Saving result file ../logfile_01.txt 03:46:26:WU01:FS00:0x22:Saving result file che...

Re: OS choice

Definitely Linux will be required. It can be a little tricky to get running at first but once it does it’s pretty much set it and forget it. I like Ubuntu 18.0.4 and have that running on 6 systems. Here’s my guide on how to get it running. I’ve run a RTX 2070 on an old 2.8GHz AMD Athlon II x64 with ...

Agreed :-)

Thing have been a bit bumpy and slow but I’m seeing a ton of small medium and large WUs getting processed and hopefully we’ll generate some useful results for the Researchers to help them move forward.

Re: Slow uploads to 140.163.4.241

Due to the high demand, it is hardly keeping up. So you might sometimes see slow transfers to/from it, or even WUs for other researches that still need to be done. Rafal has set up another server (140.163.4.231) with Coronavirus-related projects to help balance the load. It's stuck trying to connec...

Re: Rack-Mount 8-GPU Dedicated Folding Rig

Gordonbb, I read your PCIe m.2 rig build post several times and I think I’ve got it all down except the riser extension lengths. I looked at all the parts list you provided and found price and availability reasonable. The riser lengths will be dependent on the PCIe x16 slot location and m.2 break-o...

Re: Rack-Mount 8-GPU Dedicated Folding Rig

No, junking all my RTX cards for $$$ Quadros is not in my plans. Plus the server cost approaching $5,000 is pricey. What would a workable mining-type rig with PCIe risers look like? Motherboard support for lots of gpus, very large power supply, mining case, etc. Have folders done this? If one of yo...

Re: Rack-Mount 8-GPU Dedicated Folding Rig

Most of those 4U servers are built for Tesla and Quadro cards that are fanless and the chassis has 4000rpm fans with shrouds (really loud) to force air over them to cool them. Current Desktop AMD Processors (Ryzen 2000) have 24 PCIe Lanes. 16 for the GPU, 4 for NVMe m.2 slots and 4 for the link to t...

Re: debian buster and python-gnome2 library

The client is built using Python 2 which is deprecated and end of life. A new client is in the works but that may take sone time.

This thread discusses this and there is mention of using apt mark to stop the removals

Re: Download Bug Happening Again

... Off topic, I have tried to get my Signature to show my folding stats but doesn't matter what I put in my sig box, it doesnt show or shows a link rather than an actual box. I'm not totally computer illiterate but it seems to elude me that what it says to put in the sig box just won't work for me...

Download Bug Happening Again (*.220)

Had one system stall yesterday and another today. download from 155.247.166.220 was the culprit today. Client-type "Advanced" on both these two systems 21:29:36:WU00:FS01:0x22:Completed 990000 out of 1000000 steps (99%) 21:29:37:WU01:FS01:Connecting to 65.254.110.245:8080 21:29:38:WU01:FS0...

Re: Outdated Linux instructions

I'm old school and still have accounts named "wheel" I use on *nix systems at work but I've been dragged kicking and screaming into the 90s and now use PKI for access to pretty much all systems except some really ancient VMS systems that are so old they have to be firewalled from the rest...
