testing the same work unit on different configurations to see how fast it will run
Hi there. I'm due to get a computer with 16 cores in the next few weeks, and I have always been curious as to if there is a way to run the same work unit on different machines, simply to see how fast it will go. For example I am running project 16977, run 5, clone 1022, gen 508, and I think it will ...

trouble with fah_core_a7 on 32 bit OS
Hi.
I'm still using windows XP, and there's a work unit that won't run because it uses fa_core_a7, it just sits there doing nothing.
if I try to run fa_core_a7 manually, it says it's not a valid win32 application.
Can you please compile fah_core_a7 so it will run on older OS' like XP?
Thanks.

Lol, I actually found that joke amusing, but I can see why some other people wouldn't.

question about files that make up work units
Hi I'm not sure if this is the right forum for my query, since I've been folding for several years on and off. I am curious about the files in my work directory that make up a work unit, particularly the files with extension .XTC, TRR, .EDR and .CPT. What do they do? Are you able to give me a brief ...

Re: unable to upload to 134.139.52.2 or 134.139.52.3
Just wondering Is there an email address or some other manual way I could send my results before the deadline is reached? or should I just dump the work unit?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Perhaps you could submit your flu samples off to stanford and we could fold all the proteins to try and find a cure for your cold. heheh

Re: which projects on which platforms
Hi. Thanks for clearing this up. What I'm trying to work out is: if everyone's being directed to do projects 8011, How is it that those other gromax windows projects I listed are still marked as "running" Is it only the older pcs or people using older clients that are being made to do this...

Re: which projects on which platforms
Hi.
can you tell me which platforms or cores are able to do projects 2974, 2975, 3044 etc? there doesn't seem to be anything on the project summary page about which hardware or cores are required for each project.
Thanks.

which projects on which platforms
Hello.
I am browsing through the list of running projects and can see projects 2974, 2975, 3044, 3452 etc.
but whenever I try running my windows client, I always get project 8011. How are projects assigned and why do I always get the same project instead of a different one each time?

Re: the speed of cuda work units
I long for the day where I can pick and choose what work units I want to do, be it cuda, cpu or linux or play station. I dont like the idea of limiting by platform IE, you can only do this protein if you use linux, or you can't do this protein unless you use a ps3. one day I hope that every work uni...

the speed of cuda work units
Hello. I used to have a geforce 9600gt, and now I have a geforce gt240. I noticed that certain cuda work units would run at different speeds on my 9600gt. Some would finish quicker than others. Now that I've upgraded, I dont see any real difference in speed or the time it takes to complete the work ...

Re: cannot send finished work unit, help!
Never fear, qfix helped clear it all up. I had to delete the entry from the queue using fah, then put it back in using the qfix.exe program. I then used fah -send all to send the work unit, the server reported no problems with it. 3 mb is quite usual for wuresults.dat, I've had other work units that...

cannot send finished work unit, help!
Hello there. I can't believe this. Just as the work unit reached 100%, it got to the bit where it said "Writing 3805942 bytes of core data to disk... Done..." and then the power went out! A few seconds later, it came back on, I booted the computer, checked the fah_log and reran the client ...

Re: lots of questions and suggestion for folding@home
I have another question, can the folding @home cuda program be made to work on all projects, like the normal folding@home application program can do?
