Re: Im new, done my reading and homework, now fusterated
There are a few hardcore mac geeks out there ;) The PG still needs a decent front end for the client on the mac. The prefpane is less than ideal imho. It still needs a uniprocessor client and the gpu client. I'm not holding my breath for either one to ever see the light of day. Guides for an optimal...

Re: Nvidia GPU Viewer
The viewer is well known for causing the gpu client to crash is what I was alluding to. I don't know why it's even offered.

Re: Which client, OS, config to use?
For something that is just going to sit in the corner and fold, I would run linux for the stability. Set it up, set the client to start on boot, fire the client up, and never touch the machine again. Ever. Till the hardware dies anyways. Figure half an hour to install linux, pretty painless process,...

Re: Nvidia GPU Viewer
Unless things have recently changed, the viewer is also known as junk, and not recommended to be used for any reason.

Re: A1 units on 171.64.65.63 ?
It's starting to look like its an issue specific to the combination of the 2.17 core and snow leo. My iMac runs 10.5 and hasn't had a hiccup running a3's yet with any core version.
My linux box picked up an a1 yesterday, it's currently working on an a3. Meh for me, but I don't have a farm either...

Why virtual? Native would seem much simpler to deal with?

Re: Are F@H points weighted?
I think there is probably a massive amount of machines out there running the unicore client for lack of being able to run anything else. It's also the only client that requires zero babysitting, and is brainless to set up. It may offer the least amount of points, but it's painlessness and it's abili...

Re: P5799 never actually folds
Since it bombs out immediately, its likely not a heat issue, that usually comes a little later. Worth a quick check tho. Basically, do you have dust bunnies inside your computer case? Cleaning them out with compressed air works ok, I use a soft bristle paintbrush to get the glued on stuff and skip c...

Soon is a relative term, espscially when it comes to OS X. I would just be happy with someone figuring out how to get the windows gpu2 client running under wine in OS X.

Re: Is it just me or are the Stats not updating?
Patience, grasshoppers. Nothing at the PG moves quickly. As it was pointed out, the last time this happened, it took a week to get sorted. Everyone is in the same boat, so it's not like anyone is being disadvantaged. Be happy there is at least productive work being fed to your rigs.
