For something that is just going to sit in the corner and fold, I would run linux for the stability. Set it up, set the client to start on boot, fire the client up, and never touch the machine again. Unless things have recently changed, the viewer is also known as junk, and not recommended to be used for any reason.

It's starting to look like its an issue specific to the combination of the 2.17 core and snow leo. My iMac runs 10.5 and hasn't had a hiccup running a3's yet with any core version.

Patience, grasshoppers. Nothing at the PG moves quickly. As it was pointed out, the last time this happened, it took a week to get sorted. Everyone is in the same boat, so it's not like anyone is being disadvantaged. Be happy there is at least productive work being fed to your rigs.
