Re: Slot settings reset after reopening F@H

It is not a bug, and it will not be changed in the version 7 client. 7.6.21 is the last version of version 7, they are currently working on a version 8 client. That is being rewritten completely, there may be a bet test of it out in the next year or so.

Re: Slot settings reset after reopening F@H

You have been given options to end that default behavior of the client, use them. The 'pause-on-start' option will keep the slot from starting up, even after a computer restart, that is why that option was created and how it works. Or you can use the 'gpu' option set to 'false' that I mentioned, it ...

Re: Slot settings reset after reopening F@H

Or add the option "gpus" (or is it "gpu") set to "false" under the expert tab once you have the GPU slot you want configured.

Edit: Looked it up in a verbosity 5 log I keep around for such things. The option is "gpu".

Re: FAHcontrol not saving settings

Taking out the CPU slot out of config.xml may not persist through reboots. The client is designed to look around what hardware there is at startup, so the CPU slot may reappear. This is true for the GPU slots, but the client doesn't recreate CPU slot. But I know it recreates GPU slots after shuttin...

And known VPN address ranges are getting blocked as well in some cases. Some VPN providers do a good job of managing their use. But others have been very lax and made them easy to be used and abused by spammers.

I can get to EOC just fine, and the forum is connecting to there as well to display your signature with your folding stats.

Re: Issues folding with nVidia gpu

Kepler mostly works for now, but Nvidia has ended support and driver upgrades for that architecture. So anything that requires features in the latest drivers will not work well. The architecture between Tesla and Kepler was Fermi. GPUs based on that "worked" up until about 1 1/2 years ago....

Re: How legit is uptodown folding@home? [Not legit]

There is an ARM version of the CPU folding core for use on systems using Linux. Whether it would run on an Ampere ARM based CPU has not been determined.

Re: COVID Moonshot - should it be left without saving lives?

The first application was for the Zika virus, but it was not needed. So they were ready to go for COVID19. That would be the first for humans, mRNA vaccines had been released for veterinary purposes a few years earlier. As for the one for Zika virus, "it was not needed" is not quite what ...

Re: Folding through a Team#, not sure if setup correctly

You will need to ask the team support channels this question, they have no official connection with the F@h project. There is information on the F@h site as to what characters are supported and recommended in a username, if they are failing to follow that they need to adjust how they assign you them.

Did the person(s) who told you this give reasons not to use the newer drivers? "That's a Kepler GPU, make sure your drivers are no newer than Nvidia 470. After 470, Nvidia dropped support for Kepler" Well the latest version on the Nvidia site when you search for drivers for Kepler based G...

Re: Running FAH on a 2006 Mac Pro

You might not be able to run on osx 10.7 either. I believe core a8 was compiled with -faligned-new, which probably requires osx 10.13. Core_A8 will run on 10.12.6, it does quite well on my one system running that OS still. I don't currently have any older OSs available to run to check. The original...

Re: Running FAH on a 2006 Mac Pro

Welcome to the folding support forum. What you are running into is an issue with too old of an OS, it is not a problem with the client software. From the log you are running OS X 10.6, the folding core downloaded by the client to process the WU requires at least 10.7 or 10.8. They used to compile th...
